Mo-Kea Kitchens

The warmth of custom – on an IKEA frame.

Love the idea of a Motide kitchen but working with a tighter budget? Mo-Kea is our custom front replacement service for IKEA kitchen frames (METOD systems). We design and handcraft new doors, drawer fronts and panels in plywood, timber or a finish of your choosing – giving your kitchen a completely custom look, without the custom price tag.

The result is a kitchen that feels genuinely unique, made from real materials that age beautifully – sitting on a frame you can source, install and expand yourself.

This service includes:

  • Choice of materials: plywood, blackwood, oak, painted MDF and more

How It Works

1. Tell us about your project Get in touch with a few details – what you're looking for, rough dimensions, any inspiration images you have. No brief is too early or too vague.

2. We talk it through We'll have a conversation (in person in Raglan or via video call) to understand your space, your lifestyle and your vision. This is where the good ideas happen.

3. We design and plan We develop the design, drawings and material plan. You'll see exactly what you're getting before anything is built.

4. We build it Everything is made by hand in our Raglan workshop, using FSC-certified, sustainably sourced materials.

5. It arrives in your home We deliver and install across New Zealand. The piece is yours – built to last, designed for your life.

  • Yes – while we're based in Raglan, we work with clients across New Zealand. Design consultations can be done remotely, and we ship and deliver nationwide.

  • It depends on the scope. Kitchen Design & Plans typically takes 2–4 weeks. A full custom kitchen or bathroom build is usually around 12 weeks from sign-off, depending on our current schedule.

  • Full bespoke kitchens typically start from $24,000 depending on size and materials. Kitchen Design & Plans (design only, no build) starts from $800. Mo-Kea fronts are priced per door/drawer front – get in touch for a quote.

  • Absolutely. Many clients source their own tapware, handles and appliances. We're happy to design around what you have or help you choose.

  • We primarily work with FSC-certified plywood and solid hardwoods (blackwood, oak, rimu and others). All finishes are chosen for durability and low toxicity. No MDF. No Chipboard
